Timothy Luchini, Ph.D. is an integrated product team manager in the Boeing Research and Technology (BR&T) organization. He has 10 years of experience in the field of composite and non-metallic materials processing development and implementation. While at the Boeing Company he has worked on a variety of programs in the field of composite materials, advanced manufacturing processes, materials characterization, development and evaluation.
Tim is leading technology development for Boeing through internal and contracted research and development with government organizations. He has over 15 publications in the area of non-metallic materials and holds 4 patents. In his current position, Tim is responsible for a team of engineer’s developing solutions for rate capable experimental rotorcraft and the key technologies necessary for implementation of cost and weight efficient thermoset composite materials and manufacturing processes. He is in charge of developing and down-selecting the next generation of aerospace composite material systems and processing approaches, scaling the processes with assessments of automation and representative work cells.
He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on composite materials processing from Michigan State University, a master’s degree with an emphasis in ceramic materials from The University of Toledo, and an undergraduate mechanical engineering degree from the South Dakota School of Mines. Tim also currently serves as adjunct faculty at Washington University and UMSL in computer aided design, fluid mechanics, and engineering design courses.
