Dr. Simone Maffia holds two Master’s degrees in Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, specializing in Laser Powder Bed Fusion. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, focusing on Laser Metal Deposition for the Oil and Gas sector, in collaboration with Baker Hughes. During his Ph.D., he was a visiting researcher at Fraunhofer IWS in Dresden. In 2024, Simone joined Ponticon as a Process and Applications Expert, where he develops high-speed DED solutions, optimizes processes, and leads projects to integrate DED technologies into manufacturing workflows, particularly for aerospace and energy sectors. Currently, he covers the role of Head of Application Development.
