Noel Ellis is director for Engineering Learning and University Relations at Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems. As director for Engineering Learning and University Relations, Ellis supports SAS’ Engineering organization of more than 6,000 employees domestically. His responsibilities include the development of and leadership for Engineering Continuing Education, Organizational Training, as well as a number of Talent Development Programs. He also leads Engineering University Relations and manages SAS’ University Research portfolio.
Since joining Raytheon in 2003, Ellis has held a number of leadership positions of increasing responsibility and complexity. In addition to his organizational leadership duties, Ellis has previously served as Raytheon’s Professor of Practice at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Ellis is also a leader and spokesperson for Raytheon’s ongoing efforts to promote student interest in careers in science, technology, education and math (STEM). A frequent panelist and speaker on STEM-related topics, he leads the annual Engineers Week activities at SAS and participates regularly in community outreach events to increase awareness of STEM career opportunities among
middle and high school students.
Before joining Raytheon, Ellis worked at Novare, Inc., where he was a key member of the management team that transformed a small management consulting firm into a product company that became a leading provider of enterprise applications.
Ellis has 20 years of experience in management and consulting, new product development, portfolio and project management, process improvement, and supporting applications within multiple industries and product lines. He has led multidiscipline product development and professional services organizations and managed projects for engineering, professional services, business development, and sales organizations, successfully executing enterprise-level strategies with North American and European clients. Ellis has worked in the technology sector since 1988.
Ellis earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University and a master’s degree in business administration from California State University, Long Beach. He has completed the Technical Management Program at University of California Los Angeles.
