Lou has been working in the advanced composites industry since 1978. He has been associated with Abaris since it began in 1983 and has been employed by Abaris Training since 1989. Lou is Abaris’ composite materials and process engineering specialist. His background includes over 30-years of experience with composite materials research and development, manufacturing engineering, material and process engineering, tool design and tool fabrication.

His work in aerospace composites includes programs like the Lear Fan 2100, Beechcraft Starship 1, B-2 bomber, C-17 transport, MD-11, Boeing 777, and the Airbus A-330/340 to name a few. He has also been involved with several non-aerospace programs in the motorsports, marine, sporting goods, and wind energy industries.

Lou has been a professional member of the Society for the Advancement of Material & Process Engineering (SAMPE) since 1982, where he has published a variety of technical papers over the years. He is also a senior member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and is chair of the Plastics, Composites, and Coatings (PCC) technical community of SME. Lou is also a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers (SPE), where he is involved in the automotive composites community.

Lou is a co-author of the Abaris textbook titled “Essentials of Advanced Composite Fabrication & Repair,” published by Aviation Supplies and Academics, Inc. (ASA)-2009.
