Sector Vice President, Global Operations

Kevin L. Mitchell is sector vice president, Global Operations, at Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, a premier provider of military aircraft, autonomous and space systems and next-generation solutions to assist our customers worldwide, preserve freedom and advance human discovery.
In his current role, Mitchell leads a team of more than 5,000 people that produces some of the world’s most capable and technologically advanced aerospace systems. In addition to overseeing all manufacturing activity across the sector, he is responsible for developing new, innovative and affordable manufacturing techniques and expanding processes to potential manufacturing locations around the globe while continuing to enhance the efficiency and productivity of Aerospace Systems manufacturing entities in the United States. His responsibilities include leadership of the Global Supply Chain organization that manages the many suppliers and teammates who comprise an essential part of the Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems team. He is also responsible for the oversight of the sector’s Facilities and Environmental, Safety, Health and Medical organizations.
Mitchell has 30 years of success in managing large-scale operations. His previous role was the deputy for Global Operations and the site leader for the Palmdale Aircraft Integration Center of Excellence (PAI CoE). As the PAI CoE lead, Mitchell was responsible for Engineering, Manufacturing, Global Supply Chain and Quality to ensure the on-time delivery of high-quality, affordable products. He was also responsible for overseeing and integrating production operations at the various Antelope Valley sites by producing and maintaining advanced weapon systems, including the B-2, F-35, high-altitude, long-endurance programs, Unmanned Combat Air System and special programs.
Other previous leadership roles include vice president and site manager for the company’s El Segundo facility and other remote locations in California. He was also responsible for manufacturing at Moss Point, Mississippi and New Town, N.D. Prior to joining Northrop Grumman in 2003, he worked for McDonnell Douglas/Boeing.
Mitchell earned a Master of Science in global supply chain management from the University of Southern California. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration and a master’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in global management, from the University of Phoenix. He completed the following executive programs: Harvard University, creating corporate advantage; University of Washington, aerospace manufacturing; Stanford University, global supply chain management strategies; and holds a Six Sigma Green Belt from UCLA.
A current member of the El Segundo board of education, Mitchell serves on the University of San Diego Supply Chain Management Institute advisory board and the University of Southern California Marshall global supply chain management board. He also serves as a member of the Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce and the Antelope Valley Chamber of Commerce.
