Dr. Jeff Miller is a Senior Technical Fellow in Production Engineering at The Boeing Company. He currently leads the Boeing Enterprise Automation Team and has extensive experience in leading innovative technology development through production system implementation.
Prior to this role, he was in Boeing Research & Technology with assignments in composite fuselage technology and assembly development. Before joining the Boeing Technical Fellowship, he was a Senior Manager of Technology Integration for the 787 Dreamliner Program and had responsibility for managing the 787 technology portfolio consisting of development projects for key technologies to be transitioned onto the Dreamliner.
Miller first joined Boeing Commercial Airplanes as a Sr. Manager responsible for capital equipment and facilities integration for the 787 which was performed in cooperation with a global alliance of Partners from North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Prior to joining the 787 team, Miller led design, construction, and activation of launch facilities for the Boeing Delta IV rocket program at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida and Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
Miller led the site planning and activation teams for the 1.5 million square foot Delta rocket factory in Decatur, AL, including acquisition and commissioning of the plant, property, production equipment, tooling and systems. Miller led several technology development projects for manufacturing both aircraft and launch vehicle primary structure including specialized equipment and processes for the NASA Advanced Composites Technology Wing Program.
He currently teaches courses in composites materials and processes, manufacturing, and technical leadership.
Miller has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and MBA from the University of Washington and is a SME Certified Manufacturing Engineer and Registered Professional Engineer.
