David (Dave) Dickson is an industry-recognized expert in tooling for composites. He has played a key role in the fabrication of composite parts on seven Boeing airplanes, including the 787 Dreamliner, and has supported several other product development studies. He was inducted as a Boeing Associate Technical Fellow and was named a Boeing Designated Expert in several disciplines. Retiring from Boeing in 2017, where he worked in equipment and tool engineering, Dave has been a tool engineer and tool engineering manager on both Boeing commercial and military programs. He has led integrated product teams and was also a Boeing Lead Export Focal. He continues to be a college-level instructor for the University of Washington Continuum College.
Dave is also an advisor and co-chair of SME’s Composite Manufacturing Technical Group. He has chaired two composites conferences for SME and has chaired, presented or served as a panelist at numerous conferences, including SME, SAE, SAMPE, CompositesWorld Carbon Fiber, and PNW AIAA. He was also honored by SME with the Jud Hall Composites Manufacturing Award.
