Dave Lyons

Dave Lyons leads the Electric Propulsion Unit engineering team at Joby Aviation. Dave has three decades of deep experience leading innovation, engineering, and design programs in new mobility technology companies. As the 12th employee and Director of Engineering at Tesla Motors, he led the development of the powertrain for the Tesla Roadster and played a pivotal role in the initial development of the Tesla Model S. He co-founded Peloton Technology, a self-driving truck technology company. Dave spent 11 years at IDEO, the renowned design firm, starting where he was a studio head and project leader. Dave holds an MBA and an MSME from Stanford University and a BSME from MIT.
