Drew Mallow serves as the Executive Director of the National Center for Advanced Manufacturing (NCAM). NCAM is a public/private partnership formed through a cooperative agreement between NASA, the State of Louisiana, Louisiana State University and the University of New Orleans. NCAM forms an integral part of the advanced manufacturing facilities at the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, LA. In this position, Mallow is responsible for leading the implementation of NASA’s manufacturing vision for space exploration and establishing collaboration opportunities with partners, suppliers and academic leaders.
Prior to this position, Mallow served as the Director of Innovation and Advanced Manufacturing for Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Operations. His responsibilities included defining Boeing’s future strategic manufacturing needs; including collaborating with research organizations and business partners to advance the company’s future manufacturing vision. Mallow’s other responsibilities included leading enterprise efforts in additive manufacturing, automation and smart factory integration, and leading production technology risk reduction activities for the BDS 777X program.
He previously led operations in Boeing’s Phantom Works division which included the development and documentation of prototyping processes and tools. Mallow also served as program manager for the Phantom Eye High Altitude Long Endurance demonstrator program. Mallow has more than 30 years of aerospace experience where he has helped champion efforts focused on new composite materials systems, fiber placement, robotics, data analytics, additive manufacturing and wearables technology.
Mallow has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Missouri – Columbia, a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Washington University – St. Louis, and an executive master’s in business administration from Washington University in St. Louis.
